Fill and ship hero boxes to deployed US military around the world with Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina's Bowl 4 Boxes!
When your child serves in the military, no one understands what it's like except for another parent. Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina is a local group offering support for moms with a child who is serving or who has served with monthly meetings at the Moose Lodge on Burcale Road in Myrtle Beach.
Paid memberships are open to moms, including step and adoptive moms and grandmothers, and non-paid memberships are for associates, such as aunts, sisters, wives and nieces.
However, they also supply items to veteran organizations such as the VA Clinic in Market Common and ECHO's Nardmoor in Myrtle Beach, and they send deployed US military members around the world hero boxes including hygiene supplies, boredom busters and small treats.
Coming up on Saturday, July 25th at Surfside Bowling Center, they've partnered with The Citizens Bank to Bowl 4 Boxes. From 1pm to 5pm, you can bowl as many frames as you'd like, with shoes, for $20! Enjoy a DJ, door prizes, raffle baskets and line dancing in the lounge too. Kids under 12 are $10.
With boxes costing $34.50 to ship, proceeds and donations will help them send 150!
Buy your tickets through a Blue Star Mother or at the front desk at Surfside Bowling Center, and bring a pack of items to donate to their packages. They're looking for:
- ramen
- popcorn
- slim jims
- beef jerky
- jello/pudding/fruit cups
- pop tarts
- peanuts
- trail mix
- granola bars
- small packs of cookies and crackers
- water guns
- travel toys
- travel-size toiletries
