EmpowerLit Literacy & Beyond, a local organization, aims to build children's confidence and reading skills through literacy events at area schools!
Although, it's more than just an educational program. As they menton, it's a movement to empower the next generation and give them the tools they need to succeed through author visits and story workshops to underserved school.
After meeting an author, EmpowerLit shared:
- 68% of students say they enjoy reading more
- 31% are twice as likely to pick up a book on their own
- 37% feel more confident reading, and 22% feel more confident writing
They utilize storytelling to help kids feel seen and heard, which positively impacts how they show up to school and their future.
You can help ignite that spark by:
- inviting EmpowerLit to present to our schools
- attending the fun community events they've planned in the area (Glenn Dye will be at the Cake Off!)
- volunteering at their non-school functions
- making a monetary donation
