Don't have time to read, but you'd like to learn more about Grand Strand Miracle Leagues? Listen to Van Roberts chat with Executive Director Stephanie Warren.
Let's remove the barriers that prevent individuals with disabilities from playing sports.
Grand Strand Miracle Leagues provides those 4 and up with the chance to participate in adaptive sports and recreational programs in a welcoming, supportive environment.
The league started with baseball 24 years ago, but they've grown to offer soccer, golf, cheer, basketball, flag football, tennis and more. More recently, they've added adaptive dance, and they've partnered with the YMCA for pick your own water swim lessons.
Many sports last 6-8 weeks and are held on weeknights and weekends. They're usually hosted at their fields, which include ADA accessible facilities, near Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. However, there is always a sport offered year-round.
Opportunities like these give players the chance to grow their skills, form friendships and experience the joy of being part of a team. It's movement that connects and builds community.
The best part? It's free! Grand Strand Miracle Leagues believe everyone deserve to play sports, regardless of financial barriers. They also provide the uniforms and equipment.
Age isn't an issue either. They have groups for every age! Currently, their range spans from 4 years old to 65 years young.
They serve close to 400 individuals now through sports, but that doesn't include their School Day Programs where they welcome students with disabilities for field trips, at no cost to the families or schools.
It takes a village to make these programs happen, and here's how you can get involved:
Together, we’re building a community where everyone has a place to play, grow, and belong!
