The new James Gunn directed Superman opened nationally on Friday, and I was there for it at my hometown theater in Conway. It stars David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. There are cameos by Bradley Cooper, Jake Tapper, and even the late Christopher Reeve's son, Will.
I'm trying not to give you any spoler alerts, but how Ultraman appeared to be a match for Superman was brilliant The additions of Hawkgirl, the Green Lantern, Mr. Terriffic, and a personal favorite from my geeky youthdom, Metamorpho, the Element Man, were amazing and totally fleshed out the story.
It was if I was reading a great comic book. Lex Luthor was a pure evil, power mad meglomaniac, who cared about no one or nothing but himself. He created an army to help take Superman down. Needless to say it didn't work.
In the end Superman, an immigrant from Krypton, turned out to be more human than the earthlings he was up against.
There was an appearance by Supergirl near the end of the movie, hinting that we'll see more of her in the future. I totally fell in love with Krypto, the Super Dog!
I loved this movie.
